A Heartwarming Tale of Two Maui Street Kittens

A streetwise kitten, blind but brave, finds his ‘unofficial guide’ in a loyal friend ~ as they embark on an adventure to find their forever home in San Diego.

Maui school bus driver Lisa M. discovered a heart-wrenching sight during one of her routine stops. A fragile, 1-pound tabby kitten was lost and desperately wailing at the bus stop, his vision stolen by an infection that had just ruptured both of his eye. 

Fortunately, the compassionate team at Kitty Charm Farm swooped in to rescue the tiny feline, later naming him Bus Stop. With urgent medical care, Bus Stop's painful eyeballs were removed, but this was only the beginning of his journey.

As he healed at Kitty Charm Farm, an extraordinary bond blossomed. Enter Jet, a stray kitten found at the Maui airport, who seemed to sense Bus Stop's struggles. Jet was always at his side, gently guiding him through the challenges of their shared world. The duo was inseparable, with Jet calling Bus Stop back to the right path with gentle meows and supportive nudges. Even in the presence of other kittens, their inseparable bond shone brightly and couldn't be broken.

Their story took a thrilling turn when Bus Stop got the chance to find a loving home through North Park Cat Rescue in San Diego. Without hesitation, the rescue organization decided Jet should accompany him on this new chapter of their lives. The two kittens flew side by side in one carrier, thanks to the incredible volunteer program Fly Hawaii Cats. This unique initiative connects overwhelmed rescues in Hawaii with volunteer flight escorts who are already flying to the mainland, providing a lifeline for countless cats like Bus Stop and Jet. When the volunteers land, they are met at the airport by the rescuing organization. 

Rima G., a flight volunteer, shared her experience: “Bringing Bus Stop and Jet from Maui to San Diego on our flight home was easy. Maui may seem like Paradise but it’s not for thousands of homeless cats. I’m glad I was able to play a small part in finding forever homes for these two adorable kitties, while also helping to protect the delicate Hawaiian environment. Being able to give back to the island in those two ways was a sweet experience! 10 out of ten; highly recommended!”
