Our volunteers are the heart of North Park Cat Rescue. From supporting fosters and TNR efforts to assisting at Whiskers & Wine, volunteers play a vital role in every cat’s journey toward a forever home.

Help at Whiskers & Wine
Whiskers & Wine is our cage-free adoption center located on Adams Avenue in North Park. Volunteers work scheduled shifts inside the cat lounge when it is closed to the public, helping create a clean, comfortable, and well-managed environment for our furry friends.
A typical shift includes cleaning cat areas and dishes, scooping litter boxes, monitoring cats for symptoms and behavior, and supporting the intake and adoption of cats. There will certainly be plenty of kitties during your shift, but volunteering is more than cuddle time. It is hands-on teamwork that ensures our kitties are safe, healthy, confident and ready for adoption.
This is a great fit for people who enjoy a social environment, can follow a regular schedule and want to learn more about the workings of a cat cafe.
Help Behind the Scenes
Because North Park Cat Rescue is a foster-based rescue, much of our work happens throughout the community and behind the scenes.
Volunteers transport cats, deliver supplies, support fosters, help with adoptions, attend community events and lend their talents to marketing, fundraising, photography, administration and special projects.
Some rescue opportunities involve direct cat care, while others help build the support system that makes every rescue and adoption possible. Whether your superpower is calming a nervous cat, organizing a spreadsheet or creating an irresistible social media post, there is a place for it here.
What We Ask From Our Volunteers
Training and onboarding take time, and our cats and team members depend on volunteers who follow through. We ask applicants to be prepared to make a minimum three-month commitment and to communicate consistently about their availability.
Volunteering also includes the practical work that keeps cats healthy and comfortable, including cleaning, litter care, dishes, organization and following safety procedures.
After submitting the interest form, you will receive information about the next steps. Applicants whose availability and interests match current needs will be invited to complete orientation and schedule a first training shift.
