There’s a new way to help cats! North Park Cat Rescues accepts vehicle donations like cars, trucks, boats, RV, and motorcycles, running or not. Car donations are a great way to provide funding and support for our cat rescue. We’ll have the vehicle picked up for free and you’ll receive a tax receipt for your donation. All vehicles are considered, because every dollar helps save lives!

What types of vehicles can I donate?
We accept many types of vehicles including cars, trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, RVs, campers, trailers, and more. Vehicles do not need to be running to qualify.
Does my vehicle need to be running?
No. Many donated vehicles are not running. As long as the vehicle is accessible for pickup, it can often still be accepted.
Is towing really free?
Yes. Pickup and towing are completely free for donors. Once you schedule the pickup, a towing partner will contact you to arrange a convenient time.
How long does the donation process take?
In most cases, vehicles are picked up within a few business days after the donation form is submitted or the donor support line is contacted.
Will I receive a tax deduction?
Yes. North Park Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and you will receive a tax receipt for your donation. The exact deduction amount depends on the vehicle’s sale price and IRS guidelines.
Can I donate a vehicle on behalf of someone else?
Yes, but the legal owner of the vehicle must sign the title and complete the required documentation.
What if my vehicle registration is expired?
Expired registration usually does not prevent you from donating your vehicle. Our donor support team can help guide you through the process.
Can I donate a vehicle without a title?
In many cases, a title is required. However, if your title is lost, donor support can explain how to obtain a duplicate title through the California DMV.
San Diego Car Donations: Title Transfer & Release of Liability
If you are donating a vehicle in San Diego or anywhere in California, here’s what to know:
Do I need the title?
Yes, in most cases you will need a clear California title in your name to donate your vehicle. If your title is lost, donor support can guide you through obtaining a duplicate from the California DMV.
How do I sign the title?
You will sign the title in the seller/owner section exactly as your name appears on the front of the title. Do not sign as the buyer.
What about a Release of Liability?
California donors should complete a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (NRL) with the DMV after the vehicle is picked up. This can be completed online through the California DMV website and protects you from future liability related to the vehicle.
